TRIP OVERVIEW
The Mardi Himal Trek is a fantastic adventure set in Nepal’s Annapurna Trek. This newly opened trail, established in 2012, is quickly gaining popularity due to its captivating scenery and accessible nature. Mardi Himal, standing at 5,587 m /18,330 feet, lies beneath the more prominent Machapuchare (Mt. Fishtail), separated by 5,200 m/17,060 feet. It is also know as Treakking peak in Nepal.
The trek offers awe-inspiring vistas of Mardi Himal and other snow-capped peaks, including Annapurna I (8,091 meters), Annapurna South (7,219 meters), Machapuchare (6,997 meters), and Gangapurna (7,454 meters). With over 150 bird species along the route, it’s a haven for bird watchers as well.
Conveniently located near Pokhara, the Mardi Himal Trek provides a flexible adventure that can be completed in just 5-6 days from pokhara, or combined with longer treks for those seeking a more extended experience. Its moderate difficulty makes it accessible even for beginners, allowing trekkers to enjoy diverse landscapes, from charming villages and lush forests to towering snow-capped peaks.
The trail follows a ridge towards the summit, with lodges and teahouses available up to 3,550 meters (High Camp). The trek continues to the Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 meters, offering spectacular views of the Himalayas. This trek is ideal for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path adventure, providing a unique and less crowded alternative to more famous treks.
Starting from the scenic city of Pokhara, the trek routes through the picturesque villages of Dhampus, Pothana, and Pitam Deurali. The path meanders through dense oak, rhododendron, and bamboo forests before reaching Low Camp and High Camp. The journey culminates at the Mardi Himal Base Camp, which rewards trekkers with breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding peaks.
