Annapurna Base Camp Short Trek - 6 Days

After breakfast, our representative from abcTrail Trek will take you from Pokhara to Samrung /Jhinu Dada in a shared local jeep. We start our journey from Pokhara and pass through Nayapul and Birethanti, a tourist checkpoint. Continuing along the old trekking route past Sauli Bazaar to Matkiu (bypassing Siwai), formerly a starting point for treks but now accessible by jeep up to Samrung, the new jeep station. Samrung is located on one side of Jhinu Dada. Upon getting off the jeep, you’ll cross the suspension bridge over the Modi River and walk uphill for about 5 minutes to reach Jhinu Dada. Here, we can rest and have lunch before beginning the ascent to Chomrong, which usually takes about 2 to 3 hours of trekking.

From Chomrong, the trail descends steeply down stone steps to cross the Chomrong Khola (river). After crossing the Chhomrong Khola suspension bridge, there is a gradual ascent through forests and terraced fields to reach a small village Sinuwa (2340m) where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings including Mt. Fistail. The trail continues through a Khuldighar village and forested area with occasional views of the mountains and reach Bamboo (2310m) on a bank of Modi River. It is a cluster of lodges surrounded by bamboo forests, hence the name. From Bamboo, the trail gradually ascends through the bamboo and rhododendron forests and finally reach Dovan (2600m). It is a small settlement located at the confluence of two river streams. It’s a tranquil place surrounded by forested hillsides. The whole trail passes through lush forests with diverse flora and fauna, providing opportunities for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers as well as gurung villages offering a glimpse into local culture and traditions.

The trail ascends gradually from Dovan, passing through rhododendron and bamboo forests. Himalaya(2920m) is a small settlement located at a higher altitude than Dovan. It offers tea houses and lodges for trekkers to take a break and acclimatize. From Himalaya, the trail continues upwards, sometimes steeply, as it gains elevation towards Deurali. As you climb higher, the landscape changes to alpine vegetation and you may notice an increase in the ruggedness of the terrain. Deurali is situated in a gorge, at the foot of the Modi Himal and provides a dramatic setting for trekkers. It is a pivotal point before reaching Machhapuchare Base Camp (MBC) and eventually Annapurna Base Camp (ABC).

Trekking from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) is an exhilarating and scenic journey in the abctrail of Nepal. The trail ascends gradually from Deurali, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. As you trek towards MBC, you pass through a rugged landscape with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and other peaks of the Annapurna range. MBC is a resting point where trekkers typically stop for lunch. It is located in a valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks, providing a stunning backdrop.
From MBC, the trail continues to ascend gradually towards ABC. The trail traverses across moraines and meadows, offering panoramic views of the towering mountains all around. Annapurna Base Camp is nestled in a bowl-shaped amphitheater surrounded by Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), and other peaks. It’s a mesmerizing place with a serene atmosphere.
Throughout this trek, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Annapurna range, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Annapurna I.

After enjoying a sunrise at Base Camp, you’ll begin your descent back to Bamboo. Descending from Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) back to Bamboo is a rewarding experience, allowing you to reflect on the beauty of the journey while enjoying the stunning landscapes of the Annapurna region once again. We Continue descending to MBC, Deurali, Dovan, Bamboo. The journey takes about 6-7 hours.

Today’s trek takes you back through Sinuwa, ascending to Chhomrong where you’ll stop for lunch, and then descend to Jhinu Danda, about an hour away. Jhinu Danda is renowned for its natural hot springs. After dropping off your bags at the hotel, take a short 20-30 minute hike down to the banks of the Modi River to relax in the soothing natural hot waters. Return to Jhinu Danda, cross the suspension bridge, where a local jeep awaits to drive you back to Pokhara. Once in Pokhara, unwind and reflect on your extraordinary journey at your leisure for the rest of the day.
